Nutroots - Daily Kos out classes Firedoglake on Mukasey Collapse »

Paradox - Daily Kos outclasses Firedoglake in their reaction to the news yesterday of Attorney General Michael Mukasey collapsing during a speech he was just starting.

Word is Mukasey suffered from a simple fainting spell.

News from The Associated Press

…Attorney General Michael Mukasey was conscious and alert early Friday - and took a get-well call from President Bush - just hours after he collapsed during a speech to a black-tie dinner.

——-

Mukasey opened his speech on terrorism with a wry remark about expecting the mood at the conservative Federalist Society dinner to be “somber or sober.” He slumped over the podium about 15 minutes later and could be seen swaying and shaking slightly just before he collapsed.

“Oh, no, no!” people in the audience cried out as Mukasey fell. “Oh, my God!”

Props to Adam B from Daily Kos who not only posted of Mukasey’s collapse but called for prayers from the kossacks:

Daily Kos: Attorney General Mukasey Collapses

Attorney General Mukasey Collapses

Attorney General Michael Mukasey collapsed around 10 pm EDT this evening. He was the keynote speaker tonight at the Federalist Society’s annual lawyers conference at the Marriott Wardman Park in Washington, D.C.

According to friends in the room, emergency paramedics were there to work on him pretty quickly, but there’s no sense as to how things are going. It may have been a stroke. He has been taken to the hospital.

Justice Alito and former Attorney General Ashcroft were among those in attendance in this room of ~2000, and everyone there was pretty much silent, crying and praying quietly.

Let us keep Mukasey in our prayers as well tonight. More news as we know it.

Not so nice at Firedoglake, seems “egregious” from Firedoglake can’t trust his/her own thoughts and decided to go with a straight clip from the Wall Street Journal news release:

Firedoglake » Mukasey Reported to Collapse

The Wall Street Journal reports Attorney General Mukasey collapsed tonight:

My mother told me that if I can’t say anything nice, I should say nothing at all.

AZ Matt November 20th, 2008 at 8:30 pm

He was probably thinking about the video of Sarah Palin with the turkeys in the background getting their heads cut off. Tough after a nice dinner with conservative lawyers.

I’m biting my tongue. Biting my tongue.
Biting my tongue. Biting my tongue.
Biting my tongue.

OK I give up I’m grinning, despite my upbringing
It couldn’t happen to a nastier guy.

He knew when he took the job what was expected of him and he could have said no. But he didn’t……

TexBetsy November 20th, 2008 at 9:56 pm

Mukasey is an Orthodox Jew? Oy gevalt! Between him an Lieberman, they’re giving us such a bad name.

And of course the bottomfeeders at Firedoglake have to find a way to pull Karl Rove’s name into it…

I guess he missed his dose of whatever concoction it is that Rove mixes up to prevent adverse reactions to massive cognitive dissonance…

Secretary of Commerce - Obama Picks Penny Pritzker? »

This is a another joke….right…?

Is Barack Obama really putting Penny Pritzker in his cabinet as Secretary of Commerce? The same Penny Pritzker of the Pritzker Family that still has 7 years to go in paying back the U.S.Federal Government $460 MILLION for one of the largest bank failures back in 2001.

Penny Pritzker, Obama’s finance chair, said to be Commerce choice - Los Angeles Times

CNN, quoting “multiple sources,” is reporting this evening that Penny Pritzker is the top choice of President-elect Barack Obama to become his secretary of Commerce.

Penny Pritzker billionaire heiress of Hyatt hotel chain national finance chair of president-elect Barack Obama’s campaign said to be his top choice for Secretary of Commerce

The 49-year-old billionaire was national finance chair of Obama’s record-breaking presidential campaign that raised in the neighborhood of $640 million.

Hyatt Hotel Family Will Pay $460 Million in S.& L. Case - New York Times

The Pritzkers, one of the nation’s wealthiest families and heirs to the fortune created by the Hyatt hotels, agreed today to pay a record $460 million to the federal government to avoid being punished for the failure of Superior Bank F.S.B., the big savings and loan institution that regulators seized last summer.

Federal officials said the payment, which will be spread out over 15 years, is the largest settlement ever in the failure of a banking institution. The failure itself is one of the largest in the last decade, one that some estimate could cost the government up to $1 billion.

A Penny for Obama’s Subprime Thoughts and Lies

As Obama has been denouncing and blaming every republican for the subprime mortgage problem, Obama has been hiding the fact that his NATIONAL FINANCE CHAIRWOMAN is Penny Pritzker, Who is Penny Pritzker you ask?

Al Franken Says This is a vote for Him not Norm Coleman? »

Do we need anymore evidence proving the intentions of the Democrats and Stewart Smalley (aka Al Franken) are out to steal an election in Minnesota away from Senator Norm Coleman?

Al Franken says this is a vote for him..??!!

RedState: Stealing Minnesota: Al Franken Wants To Count Empty Ovals, Not Marked Ovals

I bet you won’t be surprised to learn Al Fraken is contesting that vote.

So, no marks at all go to Franken. Any mark for Coleman must be challenged.

Whistleblower » Blog Archive » One challenge headed to the state so far in Plymouth

The bubble beside Norm Coleman’s name appeared to have both an X and a squiggle in it, but the Al Franken campaign wants the state Canvassing Board to rule on whether it should count. That’s the only challenge in the special envelope in Plymouth so far, according to Sandy Engdahl, the city clerk and the official running the city recount.

How Obama Got Elected

On November 4th, 2008 millions of Americans were shocked that a man of Barack Obama’s limited experience, extreme liberal positions and radical political alliances could be elected President of the United States. For many of these Americans, the explanation was rather simple… the news media, completely enamored with Obama, simply refused to do their job.

3 Appearances by Democratic current elected officeholders.
2 Appearances by Republican former elected officeholders.
1 Appearance by a Bush Cabinet Secretary.

In 2006, Media Matters conducted a study on Sunday political talk shows, finding that “Republicans and conservatives have been offered more opportunities to appear on the Sunday shows — in some cases, dramatically so.” From 2001 to 2005, conservative guests outnumbered progressives “by 58 percent to 42 percent.” Atrios notes that tomorrow’s shows will also be dominated by conservative guests:

Michael Steele for RNC Chairman! »

The RNC needs the leadership of Michael Steele!

Draft Michael Steele for RNC Chair | Draft Michael Steele

The Republican Party needs to reconnect with American voters, broaden its outreach to new audiences and offer solutions to the problems we face as a nation.

The Republican Party is a coalition of interests. It needs a leader who understands those interests, can balance their concerns, can motivate people to act and can build and sustain a political organization that can once again claim victory in national elections.

We believe that leader is Michael Steele.

As a party leader, as a candidate for public office, and as an elected official, Michael Steele has shown he has the vision needed to assemble a winning GOP majority and he has the rare ability to effectively communicate that vision to others.

Rebuilding the party after its most recent national defeat will not be easy. It requires commitment, dedication, tactical and strategic vision, the ability to craft and deliver winning messages and a sense of what the American voter wants from our government. Michael Steele has all these qualities, and in great supply.

Michael Steele is the man to lead the Republican Party into its next majority by making it a truly 21st century operation. He will make being a Republican a source of pride once again.

Franken V Coleman - Democrats Stealing The Election »

Notice how Democrats are only interested in counting votes when they lose. Al Franken lost to Senator Norm Coleman but now the democrats are pulling out all the stops in an attempt to steal the election.

This must be an Al Franken recount because it reads like a scene from a Saturday Night Live script.

Minnesota Democrats Exposed

“Let’s assume the 32 disputed ballots in Minneapolis were legitimate. Let’s assume the newly discovered 100 votes in Pine County — all for Al Franken — were just overlooked by a sleepy official, and the 100 votes found in Mountain Iron — again, all for Franken — were valid.

Mischief in Minnesota? - WSJ.com

The vanishing Coleman vote came during a week in which election officials are obliged to double-check their initial results. Minnesota is required to do these audits, and it isn’t unusual for officials to report that they transposed a number here or there. In a normal audit, these mistakes could be expected to cut both ways. Instead, nearly every “fix” has gone for Mr. Franken, in some cases under strange circumstances.

For example, there was Friday night’s announcement by Minneapolis’s director of elections that she’d forgotten to count 32 absentee ballots in her car. The Coleman campaign scrambled to get a county judge to halt the counting of these absentees, since it was impossible to prove their integrity 72 hours after the polls closed. The judge refused on grounds that she lacked jurisdiction.

Some democrats all but admit how they are going to steal the election for Franken using the already in place guidelines. Hiding votes in car trunks and attics…No big deal.

The courts have already rejected a claim that Hennepin County cannot count absentee ballots because they were accidentally left in an election official’s car. Republicans are criticizing St. Louis County (where Duluth is), another Franken stronghold, because the county stores its ballots in the courthouse attic. But that just happens to be the location of a secure room to which the county auditor and chief election official have the only two keys.

What the democrats wont touch or answer is how many Coleman votes are making their way into the trash as the DEMOCRAT election officials transfer the “new found” ballots from their car trunks to the recount table?

Why Al Franken Will be Minnesota’s Next Senator | Democracy and Elections | AlterNet

There are many steps to a certified election result in Minnesota and each, to Franken’s benefit

The Democrat Firewall

Katherine Kersten - Could Senate recount referee’s resume color the result?

On the day before last week’s election, the respected on-line journal Politico predicted that these SOS victories would bear fruit this year. “Democrats have built an administrative firewall designed to protect their electoral interests in five of the most important battleground states,” Politico said. As a result, they are now “in a more advantageous position when it comes to the interpretation and administration of election law — a development that could benefit Barack Obama if any of those states are closely contested.”

That advantageous position could also benefit a Democrat in a pivotal Senate race, they might have added.

Ritchie said in an interview that he will be impartial in the Coleman-Franken recount. “Just two months ago, we ran two really great primary recounts, and I’m looking forward to the four recounts coming up,” he said.

Thus far, Ritchie has shown no evidence of misconduct. But many Minnesotans are questioning the openness and transparency of the vote tally that just ended.
